Today’s Guardian has a short tale (less than a page) in the My Hero series. It’s by Alan Garner and reveals a connection between him and Alan Turing. Worth reading.

I have long considered it one of history’s great ironies that if the UK security services had known Turing was gay in 1939, he would very probably not allowed to work on something so secret as codebreaking; preventing him from being part of the Bletchley Park effort could have been disastrous for Britain since Turing played such a crucial role in breaking German codes.
