Reflections on life at “De Witte Wand”…
I’ve always enjoyed visiting the Rijksmuseum, the grand old lady of Amsterdam’s many museums. However, she’s been closed since 2003 for a refurbishment that was supposed to have been completed in 2006.
Here we are in 2013, and she’s about to throw open her doors once more to the world. I’ll be paying her a visit later this year, to marvel at her many wonders.
If you get the chance, see if you can get a copy of the cover of Pratchett’s Night Watch and put it next to the original…
We visited the museum 2 years ago and were terribly disappointed that so much of it was closed that we were in and out in just over an hour and yet still charged full price.
Yes, I can imagine that would have been a real disappointment. That’s why I’ve not been near the place since 2003. But I am now looking forward to getting reacquainted once more.
